Martyn Beardsley a vécu toute sa vie à Nottingham, ville qui est restée son foyer permanent.
Bien qu'il soit reconnu pour sa littérature jeunesse, Beardsley nourrit une passion profonde pour la recherche historique.
Son parcours inclut la publication d'une biographie sur l'explorateur arctique Sir John Franklin en 2002.
Après avoir travaillé de nombreuses années comme fonctionnaire, il a choisi de se consacrer pleinement à sa carrière d'écrivain.
